THE BEERS AND THE BREWERY
As we all know, Spain is more known for its love for wine. Ruben has a mission, he wants to show that there is more beer than the currently known Pilsen type, or filtered and transparent lager. Ruben´s craft beers are created based on the knowledge the owner acquired from his German friends and German brewing masters. That’s how he is able to create fresh, dry, fruity, strong flavors, different bitterness and much more! As he always says, brewing beer is the same as cooking and in the kitchen there is always something new left to discover! And that is a wonderful thing.
At Ruben´s they never stop researching new flavors. Just next to the factory, you’ll find a tasting room and a shop, where you can try the beers accompanied by original and tasty tapas and if you like them, you can purchase them right there.
Artisanal, local, sustainable

They use the perfect water for their beer styles and the malts, hops and yeasts are chosen for quality and never for price. Their fermenters and maturation tanks are isobaric, that means they withstand high pressures. This is where the beer acquires its own style, since the CO2 produced by fermentation is not expelled but remains in the beer, being a CO2 100% natural. The first fermentation is carried out in isobaric truncated conical fermenters and after several days or weeks, depending on the beer they are making, they transfer it to the maturation tanks. That is where the beer takes from several weeks to several months maturing and finishing making. Throughout the process they always respect the times necessary for the beer to be ready to be drunk. They never overtake any steps.
All Ruben´c craft beers are made respecting the German purity law. They only contain water, malts, hops and yeast. They never add glucose, dextrose, sucrose or similar. They NEVER ferment in bottles, always in the fermenters and storage tanks, thus having absolute control of the evolution of the beers. Once the beer is ready, they can keg it or bottle it, so that it can be consumed from the first minute it is bottled.
But the factory, brewery and restaurant Ruben’s is not only about beer – it is also about the local community, top quality products and sustainability. That is why, they were chosen to be featured in book written by a Dutch author and traveller, Marion Hoogwegt: Duurzaam door Spanje (“Sustainable through Spain”).
It is a book full of inspiring stories and photos for people who love to travel through Spain and want to get to know the sustainable side of the country, off the beaten track. Ruben´s is one of the 35 passionate entrepreneurs, who are featured in the book along with another unique place in Huelva, Salinas de Alemán, salt salines from Isla Cristina.
As Marion says herself, those are the people who stand for the preservation of nature, culture, traditions and collaboration with local producers and population. For her, sustainable travel mean making choices, thinking about nature, taking the environment into account as much as possible and making the least possible impact on the local population. But also that you consume local dishes and do your purchases locally. Call it sustainable travel, responsible travel, conscious travel or travel with a minimum footprint.
The official book presentation will be taking place this Friday, tomorrow, 26 of April 2024 in Restaurante Ruben´s at 12:00. Do not miss out!
