Some of you might be probably wondering, what a “romería” is. Well, it generally means a pilgrimage, one makes out of devotion to a sanctuary. In Spain, this pilgrimage is usually crowned with a folk festival with snacks, dances, etc., celebrated in the countryside next to a hermitage or sanctuary on the day of the religious festival of the place. The month of May is, without a doubt, the month with the highest volume of pilgrimages, so take note of the dates in your diary so you don’t miss a single one:
